About

My name is Alisa Huryeva. I was born in 1995 in Lviv, Ukraine, and moved to Chicago, USA, in my early twenties.
I studied painting at Palette & Chisel and the New York Academy of Art. My practice centers on figurative oil painting, with a body of work that reflects an intimate self-dialogue. I often draw from nature, dreams, and memory—using them as a lens to explore themes of melancholy, imagination, and personal transformation.

In 2024, I began working on a series titled Foxes, an exploration of the immigrant experience—of being split between two worlds and embodying two versions of myself at once. The foxes represent these dual identities: my Ukrainian and American selves. Each is independent, yet neither is whole without the other. Foxes are common to both my homeland and Chicago, serving as a natural bridge between the two places I call home.

Each painting is both an experiment and a quiet invitation—an opportunity to step into a private world shaped by reflection and feeling.
